I Like Killing Flies
2006- Matt Muhurin, Director
You must watch this fascinating documentary about the philosopher/proprietor of Shopsins’, a Greenwich village institution. Kenny Shopsin is a fearless genius in the kitchen, hammering out such treats as Mac n’ Cheese pancakes from his 8oo item menu. It’s chock-o- block with the interesting characters who inhabit Kennys’ world, who even when kicked out, keep coming back for more.
Babettes Feast
1987 Gabriel Axel, Director
A Danish film about a woman in the 19th century; a modest cook in a religious sect who wins the lottery and spends her entire winnings on a meal to end all meals, much to the shock and disapproval of those gathered around the table. The incredibly elaborate feast scene is worth the price of admission alone !
